About me

I'm a native North Carolinian. I love the Triangle and think it's a wonderful place with great food, exciting science and technology development, and countless opportunities. I love tinkering, problem solving, and Mathematics, and have found programming and technology a compelling place to exercise and develop those skills.

Working in technical support at ShopBot Tools allowed me to explore my passion for programming and taught me valuable skills. As a programmer, my greatest assets include my ability to keep calm under pressure, troubleshoot and find solutions to complex and layered problems, often with incomplete information.

I have worked at Duke University Medical Center in the Duke Cancer Institute as a Bioinformatician/Scientific Programmer on high throughput genomics data as a part of the Bioinformatics Shared Resource for more than four years. I develop preprocessing and analysis pipelines for genomics data and implement new statistical methods for cancer genomics. I am using C++, Python3, and R most of the time. I also do scientific cloud computing, mainly on AWS with EC2 or Kubernetes/EKS. I work with a diverse team of bioinformaticians and often work directly with clients throughout the Cancer Institute.
